Meet the Judges
The outcome of Switch Philly was in the hands of three community leaders.
A Wharton grad, Josh Kopelman is a Managing Partner at First Round Capital, a leading early-stage VC firm. Josh founded Half.com in July of 1999, and led it to become one of the largest sellers of used books, movies and music in the world. Half.com was acquired by eBay in July 2000. In late 2003 Josh helped to found TurnTide, an anti-spam company that created the world’s first anti-spam router. TurnTide was acquired by Symantec just six months later.
Michael Nutter is the mayor of Philadelphia. A former councilman of the city’s 4th Council District, Nutter has served as the 52nd Ward Democratic Leader since 1990.
Ellen Weber is the Executive Director of Robin Hood Ventures, one of the region’s most active angel investing groups. Ellen is also Managing Director of Antiphony, a strategic consulting firm that helps companies create sustainable value, responsible for the Leadership Development practice. Prior to that, Ellen spent twelve years at Shared Medical Systems where she was responsible for initiatives encompassing organizational development, customer support and corporate communications. She also has served as a senior consultant for Andersen Consulting. Ellen graduated from The Wharton School with a B.S. in economics.
